School Supervision

Student safety at Malvern Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised at 8.45am, across all areas of the school and area. The yard will remain supervised until 9am. From 9am, staff will make their way around the school, locking and securing all entry points, except the main entrance on Tooronga Rd, nearest to the school office
After school: All entry points are unlocked from approximately 3.20pm onwards. School grounds are then supervised between 3.30pm and 3.45pm. An announcement will then be made, asking any students, still unsupervised, to assemble at the Shi Shi Gate and will be taken to after care.
Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).
Families are encouraged to contact Their Care on 1300 072 410 for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.

Child safety and wellbeing at Malvern Primary School: information for families and the school community

Malvern Primary School is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our website: Policies – Malvern Primary School

We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.

Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact the Principal on 9571 6281 or at malvern.ps@education.vic.gov.au
