Junior School Council
Malvern Primary School values the input of students in the decision making processes. Through the Junior School Council, students are able to experience leadership opportunities. The Junior School Council is coordinated by Miss Jessica McMahon and Mr. Arthur Papadimitriou. The Junior School Council meets every fortnight and is chaired by grade 6 representatives from each grade on a rotation basis.
Student Selection – Each grade from 3- 6 elects two members to represent the class at the Junior School Council meetings. Students are asked to make a presentation to their class on why they would be an effective representative. The two school captains are automatically appointed to the Junior School Council. They are an important component of the Junior School Council as they and the chairpersons meet regularly with the school principal to seek guidance for events and activities they wish to conduct.
Junior Council Roles – The primary roles are to:
- Present discussions and decisions that Junior School Council has made to class and their buddy grade
- Be a positive role model for all students at the school
- Provide a voice for students in their grade at meetings
- Attend meetings as required and implement initiatives
Junior Council Initiatives – Junior School Council is not only involved in fundraising events, such as the Guide Dogs, Royal Children Hospital appeals etc, as they also promote ideas raised at the Junior Council to the wider School community.
